A leading group of hotels in Zanzibar is looking for a suitable candidate to fill in the positions mentioned below

2. Pastry chef

Reporting to Executive Chef, your responsibilities will include but not be limited to the following:

• In charge of Pastry and Bakery Section in the main Kitchen, Preparation of cakes/breads/deserts and introduce new pastry items in the menu
• Work with the Executive Chef and F&B Manager in delivering the F&B department strategic plans and program and ensure high standards of hygiene.
• Monitor food production, ordering, food cost on a daily basis. Assist Executive Chef in menu setting and pricing in coordination with the
F&B Manager.
• Create high quality cuisine for the guests, Provide direction and guidance to subordinate staff. Prepare monthly inventory reports for operating equipments.
• Ensure effective communication, coordination and team work within the department
• Ensure high standards of food preparation/presentation to meet brand standards, ensure full adherence to Occupational Health and Safety rules and regulations & HACCP
• Develop/training program for kitchen staff, and Conduct staff performance appraisals, Conduct recruitment of kitchen employees,
Maintain high standards of Food Hygiene.
• Keep Muster Roll on daily basis by monitoring employee attendance/punctuality.

Qualifications and experience:

• Diploma in Food Production, and a 5 years’ experience as Pastry Chef in a 4*/ 5* hotel.
• Age bracket 35 to 45 years old
• Experienced in International multi-cuisine, A la carte and knowledge in pastry and bakery.
• Strong leadership and organization skills, a team player and team leader.
• Must be budget conscious, pro-active, creative and quality driven
• Fluent in oral and written English with good communication skills.
• Proficient in MS Office. Knowledge in Materials Control System.
