College Principal POSITION DESCRIPTION:

. JOB TITLE: COLLEGE PRINCIPAL
Department: VOCATIONAL TRAINING COLLEGE
Reports To: CHIEF EXECUTIVE OFFICER

Purpose: Under the guidance of the Help to Self Help Projects Management Board the principal shall be responsible for program administration, specifically for efficiency and continuity of all assigned Project activities.

Job Specification

The Principal is directly responsible for the following key tasks:
• Provision of full information to the management on all issues pertaining to the College;
• Implementation of its overall policies and provision of advice to the Board on policy matters and forward planning;
• Direction, conduct, management, organization and tone of the College and for the overall supervision of all College activities;
• Exercise of leadership role in managing relationships and building a collaborative team;
• Provision of educational leadership, planning, implementation and monitoring of the academic curricular and co-curricular programs;
• Academic, personal and social development of students.
• Active participation in appropriate professional educational organizations; and maintenance of a co-operative and supportive atmosphere within the College community and between the College and the broader community
• Management and development of the school culture, where learning is paramount, and all Individuals are encouraged, respected and challenged intellectually, physically and socially.
• To determine, in conjunction with the management, the objectives of the College
• To have overall control of all sections of the College to ensure that the College is unified in its objectives.
• To inspire staff to perform to the highest levels of their ability and that teaching staff demonstrate high ambitions for their students.
• To train, support and empower staff so that decisions are appropriately delegated down to the lowest practicable and prudent level possible.
• To ensure that staffs are properly qualified, motivated and encouraged to obtain the best possible results from students.
• To ensure that demanding targets are set and achieved throughout the organization where quality and performance are monitored rigorously.
• To empower staff to be pro-active participants to the college development and to use their feedback to support quality improvement
• To undertake and publish a consistent, measured programme of staff surveys and to act positively as a result of the information it imparts.
• To ensure the physical, employment and social environment for all staff is one of high standards of behavior, respect, safety and fairness.

QUALIFICATION

(i) Must have a bachelor degree in Education in either of the following; Language, guidance and counseling, management and administration or bachelor of art with education or social science.
(ii) Must be computer literate
(iii) Must have reputable administration and management capacity
(iv) Minimum 3 years working in education or management level
